Alta Lacrosse Hires New Varsity Coach

    By DK 07/10/2017, 8:30pm MDT

Alta Lacrosse is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Head Coach and Program Director, Brandon Horoba!

Coach Horoba comes to Alta from the Utah Valley University men’s lacrosse program where he was the offensive coordinator.

During the season UVU played a top 10 toughest schedule in the league and played against 5 teams that made the 16 team national tournament.

From 2011-2016 he was head coach at Brighton High School where he compiled a 95-19 record.  As head coach Brighton never missed the State Semi-Finals and won the State Championship in 2016, 2014 and 2011.  In 2016 and 2014 Brighton also won the Best of the West Lacrosse Championship in Las Vegas, NV.

From 2008-2010 Brandon was the varsity defensive coordinator for Brighton.  In 2009 they reached the playoffs for the first time ever for Brighton.  In 2010 Brighton won their first state championship.  With Brandon as their defensive coordinator Brighton was undefeated in 2010 and allowed less than 8 goals per game.

From 2002-2007 he coached for the Alta Program, and is really excited to be coming back to his roots!  He coached at various youth levels during this time and coached the Freshman High School team.

Coach Horoba has coached at the high school, u-15 and u-13 levels in club lacrosse world winning a few championships along the way.  He has coached with Team Utah, Utah Blackhawks, Utah Warriors and Utah Select.  Most recently he coached the Utah Hoppers, a 2023 select team that has already won multiple championships.

Brandon is married to Shana.  Together they have 5 children – Jayden, 24, a former BYU and Brighton lacrosse player; Majena, 15, a current Alta Girls Lacrosse varsity team member, and then three younger boys all of whom play lacrosse: Berkley, 13, Braxton, 10 and Beckham, 8.

Alta Lacrosse is extremely happy to have Brandon on board for the start of Fall season 2017.  Welcome Coach Horoba!

Coach Horoba is bringing additional new coaches with him for varsity coordinators, position coaches, and JV head coach and assistants as well.

Varsity, JV and Sophomore Schedules are finalized and our tournaments entered, check the team pages to see them, and check out the mobile app for up to date game information.

We are looking forward to a great season at Alta with a highly competitive schedule!

    Alta Lacrosse 2015

Alta Lacrosse welcomes the 2015 season with a new group of coaches and a huge new group of players at every level of the program.

2014 saw Alta graduate 15 seniors off their varsity program, and this combined with a split of Alta High into two high schools means that Alta will be fielding a lot of new faces for 2015.

The Hawks also welcome a brand new coaching staff for 2015, and are very excited about the deep talent and experience the new staff brings to the Varsity, JV and Sophomore programs.
